Frequently asked questions

Is there anything I should do before I arrive?
I recommend that you relax as much as possible and only eat a very light meal. It is not recommended that you receive massage while under the influence of alcohol or suffering from infection.

Do I visit you or can you come to me?
I have a lovely treatment room in Caterham, Surrey, but I’m happy to visit you at your home if you’d rather. There will be an extra charge to cover my petrol costs. Please call me to discuss.

What about any specific problems I may want addressing during my treatment? When do I tell you about them?
Before your massage, you will be treated to a relaxing foot-bath. During this time, any emotional and physical issues can be discussed so that the ‘whole person’ can be treated in a safe and effective manner. In this way, all treatments are tailored to the individual and their needs; even as those needs change. All information given before, during and after treatments is held in confidence and will not be divulged to third parties.

Do I need to remove jewellery, contact lenses etc?
As the treatment includes a face and head massage, you will need to remove any ear rings, necklaces, glasses and contact lenses. Please remove all other jewellery / piercings or please discuss if this is not possible. The treatment room is your sanctuary – a tranquil, sacred space for the duration of your treatment, in which to heal and nurture your body. Your possessions will be perfectly safe.

Will I be covered and what should I wear?
Traditionally, Hawaiian massage is done without any clothes. You will be lying on a luxuriously soft therapy couch and you will be draped, only exposing the area that is being worked on. You may, of course, prefer to wear your underwear. Your treatment room will be heated so that you remain nearly as warm as you would be in Hawaii! Please let me know if you need the temperature adjusting.

What happens at the end of the treatment?
I will let you rest for a few minutes on your own to enjoy the ‘echo effect’ of the treatment. I will then return to the treatment room and help you sit up gently, have a few sips of water, discuss your treatment and allow you to gently return to the pace of the world! It's a good idea to re-adjust slowly, so if you are on a time deadline, please let me know so that I can allow for this.

How do I pay - cash or cheque?
I am quite happy to accept either, but I don't accept credit or debit cards.

When I go home, is there anything I need to know?
You will likely feel very relaxed and in need of quiet time to yourself after your LomiLomi. Some people feel very energised a short while after their massage, but a period of re-adjusting is important to really benefit from this powerful bodywork.

It is recommended that you drink plenty of water as LomiLomi is very detoxing and this will assist in flushing the toxins from your system.

It is also recommended that you avoid alcohol for at least 12 hours.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if there is anything you wish to discuss after your treatment.
